From Different Worlds – One Love

My daughter and I have our differences. She calls me the domineering one. I call her the meek lamb. You see, I am a power mom; that is – I raised her all by myself. I love my job being a lawyer, but I love my daughter more than anything in this world. I just feel so sad that I have not been able to show her how much she means to me. She does not know that without her, I am not complete.

Her wedding is in a few weeks and she told me that she and Henry will be opening up a restaurant business after the wedding (they’re both chefs). I thought that this would be my chance to prove to my daughter how much her dreams are important to me as well, even if we are on separate worlds. I called the best group in all of Tampa who remodel kitchen.

This is going to be my gift for both of them on their wedding. I secretly told Henry about it and he was like teary-eyed with the thought. I paid for half the down-payment on the building lease, I shouldered their wedding reception and asked Henry how Katie wanted their kitchen cabinets and such – oh, I don’t know the terms. I just want my daughter to love them.

A day before the wedding, Henry brought her to the place, with the kitchen all nicely done and just how she liked it. She couldn’t stop saying – I love you mom, you’re the best! I am so lucky! What she didn’t know, with her happy – I was the lucky one. Thank you so much for everything.
