Learning Waveguides
During our laboratory subject, back in college, I was so amazed to see new equipments that, according to my professor, can calculate signals that we cannot even see and feel. So I eagerly ask him what it was and said, “Welcome to the age of new technology, son”. I was not sure what to expect, it turns out to be an apparatus that analyze rectangular waveguide, as part of a new microwave technology. I became very interested with this technology. The 3 hour lecture seemed not enough for me as I was drawn to the subject more and more. According to my professor, the technology will be tested primarily for military purposes, but then it will make its way to the public.
From its infancy the technology has grown to become one the leading apparatus used for microwave communication system. By utilizing specific distances and repeating locations, the signal that is being broadcasted can reach its destination with just a fraction of attenuation. The signal is as clear as your talking to that person face to face. The technology has become the foundation for my career as an Electronics and Communications Engineer.
